Welcome
Shakti Creations is the new cyberspace home for my various ventures and passions. I'll start simply, just announcing the Kirtan I'm leading at The Inner Space yoga studio, but very shortly will be adding some of my recent videos, costume designs, art (like my prayer beads) and even my book! (Surprised?)
Shakti Creations’ vision for the Inner Space Kirtan is to build a collaborative kirtan community, involving everyone in the local yoga community who longs for music infused with deeper meaning and for a community bound together by the shared experience of the divine that chanting creates. We encourage community members to harmonize and experiment with their voices, opening the channels, and your HEARTS, to allow the life force energy (the Shakti) to create the flow of bliss through everyone.
The chants are mostly in Sanskrit and are usually repetitions of the names of the Divine done in a call and response format to Western melodies and harmonies, typically played by the leader on a little hand-pumped keyboard called a harmonium.
Astonishingly, as we chant, we get happy.
You may start out thinking chanting is about your happiness and your calming down; but after chanting regularly for a while, you begin to KNOW that everything you do effects everybody all the time, including the people you don’t even know yet. Kirtan is how we can extend loving kindness to the whole of the world . . . starting with ourselves in community.
Come and try if for yourself. We are gearing this simply for beginners, but all levels are welcome. No singing experience is necessary!
Just show up. CHANT TO BE HAPPY.

NOTE
The First Ever Campin' Kirtan has been cancelled--I'm very sad to report. It's a case of "force majeure" as they say in contract law--Latin for "an act of God" (as lawyers usually translate it). But the hope remains that someday, somewhere, somehow the Universe will configure itself so the First Ever Campin' Kirtan can still take place.
